Mercedes-Benz Trucks engineers conducted final tests on the battery-electric eActros 600 for long-distance transport in Rovaniemi, Finland, enduring extreme cold and snow. This test, occurring between January and March, subjected further developed prototypes of the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 to temperatures as low as minus 35 degrees Celsius, ensuring their reliability in harsh conditions before planned series production commences by year-end.

Dr. Christof Weber, Head of Global Testing Mercedes-Benz Trucks: “We are extremely satisfied with the final stages of testing the eActros 600 and with the test results. I am proud of the entire team who tirelessly tested the eActros 600 in both the extreme heat in Andalusia and the bitter cold in Rovaniemi.”

The eActros 600 for long-distance transport celebrated its world premiere last October. The high battery capacity of over 600 kilowatt hours – hence the type designation 600 – as well as a new, particularly efficient electric drive axle developed in-house, enable the electric truck to have a range of 500 kilometers[1] without intermediate charging.

In addition to CCS charging with up to 400 kW, the eActros 600 will later also enable megawatt charging (MCS). Visually, the electric truck is characterized by a fundamentally new, puristic design with clear lines and an aerodynamic shape. The electric truck is intended to set new standards in terms of profitability for fleet operators, meaning that in the long term it can replace the majority of diesel trucks in the important long-distance transport segment. The core of Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ concept for battery-electric long-distance transport is to offer customers a holistic transport solution consisting of vehicle technology, advice, charging infrastructure and services. From the outset, the eActros 600 is produced as a tractor unit and as a platform chassis variant, which offers customers numerous additional possible uses in fully electric transport.

[1] The range was determined internally under specific test conditions, after preconditioning with a 4×2 tractor unit with a total combination weight of 40t at an outside temperature of 20°C in long-distance transport, and may deviate from the values determined in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/2400.
